Where it fits

DROPS Lima is a light-weight yarn (CYC 3). Its standard put-up gives 200 metres per 100 g, which is the figure to use when comparing it with another yarn. The recommended needle range is 4–5 mm. The manufacturer's gauge is 21 sts × 28 rows / 10 cm.

Alpaca is warm, soft and prone to growing under its own weight. Block gently, dry flat, and swatch a hanging swatch if the finished length matters.

Substitution notes

Match by length and gauge band before anything else. A replacement within roughly 10% of 200 m per 100 g will usually land in the same fabric territory; a larger gap means you should recalculate the project quantity and swatch again. Fibre composition matters too: alpaca adds drape and warmth but little elasticity, so a wool replacement will hold its shape more firmly.
