Where it fits
Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted is a medium-weight yarn (CYC 4). Its standard put-up gives 202 metres per 100 g, which is the figure to use when comparing it with another yarn. The recommended needle range is 4–5.5 mm. The manufacturer's gauge is 18–20 sts / 10 cm.
Wool has memory and bloom, which makes it forgiving at the seams. Hand-wash cool unless the label says otherwise, and dry flat.
Substitution notes
Match by length and gauge band before anything else. A replacement within roughly 10% of 202 m per 100 g will usually land in the same fabric territory; a larger gap means you should recalculate the project quantity and swatch again. Fibre composition matters too: the blend's behaviour after blocking is as important as its stitch gauge.
