Where it fits
Lion Brand Mandala is a light-weight yarn (CYC 3). Its standard put-up gives 360 metres per 100 g, which is the figure to use when comparing it with another yarn. The recommended needle range is 3.5–4 mm. The manufacturer's gauge is 22 sts × 30 rows / 10 cm.
Acrylic is durable and easy to wash, but it can pill and has little elasticity. Avoid high heat, which can permanently relax the fibre.
Substitution notes
Match by length and gauge band before anything else. A replacement within roughly 10% of 360 m per 100 g will usually land in the same fabric territory; a larger gap means you should recalculate the project quantity and swatch again. Fibre composition matters too: acrylic is stable and washable but less breathable, so a wool replacement will change both warmth and drape.
