Where it fits
Scheepjes Catona is a fine-weight yarn (CYC 2). Its standard put-up gives 250 metres per 100 g, which is the figure to use when comparing it with another yarn. The recommended needle range is 2.5–3.5 mm. The manufacturer's gauge is 26 sts × 36 rows / 10 cm.
Cotton has little memory and is heavier per metre than wool. Dry flat to keep garment length stable, and expect the fabric to relax after washing.
Substitution notes
Match by length and gauge band before anything else. A replacement within roughly 10% of 250 m per 100 g will usually land in the same fabric territory; a larger gap means you should recalculate the project quantity and swatch again. Fibre composition matters too: cotton is inelastic and heavy, so a wool replacement will feel lighter and springier at the same gauge.
